Belianska Cave is the only tatranian cave accessible to the public, as well as the largest cave located in the Tatra National Park. It is one of the most visited caves in Slovakia. It is located above the village of Tatranská Kotlina from which there is a pathway leading to the cave. It was the first electrified cave in Slovakia, and most likely the first one in Europe too. The cave is 1370 meters long, has 874 steps and you can walk through it in about an hour. If you are staying in the Hotel Crocus in Štrbské Pleso, you can plan a visit to this cave as a day trip. The Belianska Cave was first discovered by gold miners. It became a popular destination thanks to the enchanting lakes and waterfalls. One of the halls in the cave was named the Music Hall to resemble the harmonious sounds of droplets falling on the surface of the lake. Thanks to the excellent acoustic conditions the cave hosted music concerts in the past.
