The winter of 2021 obviously did not meet the expectations of many people. But the weather was not the problem. It was that one virus, which scares us almost whole year, which spoiled our joy from winter madness.
Snow cannons in the High Tatras had been released in full since the first frosts in mid-November 2020, to prepare perfect slopes for skiing. It did not take such a long time for mother nature to help these snow cannons. As usual, the time when it snowed heavily came to the High Tatras. That white blanket from snow was pretty thick not only on the ski slopes, but also on the roads, meadows and paths of the Štrbské Pleso.
It was just beauty. In Crocus Hotel**** it was winter as from a fairytale. But something just gone wrong. The deteriorating situation with the corona virus has forced the government to tighten security measures, which, unfortenately, included the closure of ski resorts, just shortly after they finally opened.
A lot of people were disappointed. But many of them took this measures as an opportunity and chalenge to learn something new. Ski mounteneering has become very popular this winter. People do not care about closed ski lifts anymore. They are attracted by adrenaline from hike to different places and also skiing down the unknown hills, which brings many obstancles and surprises.
Are you already a skialp enthusiast or are you just planning to try this kind of sport? We believe, that the next winter is going to be much better and more fun, but it is not bad to have an activity in reserve that can fill winter days even in times of covid.
